Título | Genuinely Black, Genuinely Queer: towards a theory of pleasure |
Resumo | By placing personal experiences on what it means to embody a female, black and Latina body in racial contexts in the American continent, we wish to present alternatives towards the joy, pleasure and eroticism of what it means to embody a black and dissident body. Starting from the academic contributions of Saidiya Hartman and Frank B. Wilderson, Afro-pessimist theorists, we take as a starting point the fatigue of trying to be a theorist in the area of social sciences, analyzing anthropological theories of race, gender and class, and leaving the classroom to continue embodying what is theoretically known in the classroom. Are there possible futures to celebrate blackness from Afro-pessimism? To answer this question, pleasure activism will be presented as a theory that explains the uses of pleasure and the erotic to make anti-racist activism, and also to explore different cultural resources that blackness uses to understand its blackness and queer identities calling for joy; the same that are analyzed from the queer as genuinely black and the erotic as a liberating axis in racial capitalism. |
